These Terms & Conditions apply when you purchase products, event tickets or workshop places from Winter Grit through our website. Please read them before placing an order.

By placing an order, you agree to these Terms & Conditions.

1. About Winter Grit

Winter Grit is an independent UK climbing clothing and accessories brand.

References in these terms to “Winter Grit”, “we”, “us” or “our” mean Winter Grit. References to “you” or “your” mean the person purchasing from us or using our website.

2. Our products

We try to describe and photograph our products as accurately as possible. However, colours and appearance can vary slightly depending on lighting, photography, your screen and, where applicable, the materials or manufacturing process used.

Many Winter Grit products are produced in small batches. Availability is therefore limited and a product being displayed on our website does not guarantee that it will remain available.

Sizing information is provided as a guide. Please check the relevant product information before ordering.

Some Winter Grit products may be handmade, customised, repaired, repurposed or produced using materials that naturally vary. Minor variations between individual products are not necessarily defects.

3. Placing an order

When you place an order, you are making an offer to purchase the products or services in your order.

You will normally receive an order confirmation by email. We reserve the right to decline or cancel an order where, for example, a product is unavailable, there has been an obvious pricing or description error, payment cannot be authorised, or we reasonably suspect fraudulent activity.

If we cancel an order after payment has been taken, we will refund the amount paid for the cancelled item or order.

4. Prices and payment

Prices are displayed in pounds sterling (£) unless otherwise stated.

Any applicable delivery charges will be shown during checkout before you complete your purchase.

Payment is processed through the payment methods available through our website. Payment processing may be provided by third-party payment providers.

We do not directly store your complete payment-card details.

If an obvious pricing error occurs, we are not obliged to supply a product at an incorrect price. If you have already paid, we will contact you and provide an appropriate refund where the order cannot be fulfilled.

5. Delivery

We aim to dispatch orders within the timeframe stated on our website or during checkout.

Delivery dates and times are estimates unless we expressly agree otherwise. Occasionally delays may occur outside our reasonable control.

You are responsible for providing a complete and accurate delivery address.

If an order is returned to us because an incorrect or incomplete address was supplied, we may ask you to pay reasonable additional postage costs before resending it.

If your order has not arrived when expected, please contact us at hello@wintergrit.xyz and we will investigate.

6. Returns and cancellations

For most products purchased online, you may cancel your purchase within 14 days of receiving your goods, subject to any exclusions permitted by law.

If you wish to return something, contact us at hello@wintergrit.xyz with your order details.

After notifying us that you wish to cancel, you should return the goods within 14 days.

Unless the product is faulty, incorrect or otherwise not as described, you are normally responsible for the cost of returning it.

Returned products should be unused, unworn beyond what is reasonably necessary to inspect them, and returned with their original packaging and tags where reasonably possible.

You are responsible for taking reasonable care of products while they are in your possession. We may make a deduction from a refund where the value of a product has been reduced as a result of handling beyond what would reasonably be expected when examining it.

Certain products may be excluded from cancellation rights where permitted by law, including certain personalised or made-to-order products. Where an exclusion applies, we will make this clear before purchase where appropriate.

7. Refunds

Where you are entitled to a refund following cancellation, we will process it using the original payment method, subject to applicable law.

We may wait until we receive the returned goods, or evidence that you have returned them, before issuing the refund where permitted.

Original standard delivery charges will be refunded where required by law. Additional delivery costs resulting from choosing a more expensive delivery method than our standard option may not be refundable.

Nothing in these terms affects your statutory consumer rights.

8. Faulty, damaged or incorrect products

If a product arrives damaged, is faulty, is not as described or you receive the wrong item, please contact us at hello@wintergrit.xyz as soon as reasonably possible.

Where appropriate, we will arrange a repair, replacement, refund or other remedy in accordance with your rights under UK consumer law.

Your statutory rights in relation to faulty or misdescribed goods are separate from the 14-day cancellation arrangements described above and are not restricted by these terms.

9. Events and workshops

Winter Grit occasionally sells places for events and workshops, including Seams Legit workshops.

Event and workshop places are subject to availability and any specific information provided on the relevant event page.

Unless otherwise stated, event and workshop tickets are non-refundable if you decide you can no longer attend.

However, you may transfer your ticket to another person. Please contact us at hello@wintergrit.xyz before the event so that we can update the attendee details where necessary.

If Winter Grit cancels an event or workshop, you will be offered a full refund or, where available, the option to transfer your booking to another date.

If an event is postponed or materially changed, we will contact affected ticket holders and explain the options available.

We may make reasonable changes to event content, timings, instructors, activities or arrangements where necessary.

10. Participation in workshops and events

Some Winter Grit events may involve practical activities, including sewing, repairing, modifying or customising clothing.

Please follow reasonable instructions provided by Winter Grit, the venue and anyone delivering the activity.

You are responsible for telling us about any specific accessibility requirements relevant to your participation so that we can consider whether reasonable arrangements can be made.

Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability where it would be unlawful for us to do so.

11. Promotions and discount codes

From time to time we may offer promotional codes, discounts or other offers.

Unless otherwise stated, promotional codes cannot be exchanged for cash, cannot be applied retrospectively and may be subject to an expiry date or other conditions.

We reserve the right to withdraw or amend a promotion where reasonably necessary, provided this does not affect orders already validly completed.

12. Website content

We try to keep information on our website accurate and current, but occasional errors may occur.

We may update product descriptions, photographs, prices, availability and other website content from time to time.

We do not guarantee that the website will always be available without interruption.

13. Intellectual property

Unless otherwise stated, the Winter Grit name, branding, graphics, product artwork, photographs, written content, designs and other original material appearing on our website belong to Winter Grit or are used by us with permission.

They may not be reproduced, distributed, commercially exploited or used to create derivative commercial material without permission from the relevant rights holder.

Purchasing a Winter Grit product does not transfer intellectual-property rights in the artwork, branding or designs associated with that product.

14. Our responsibility to you

We are responsible for foreseeable loss or damage caused by our breach of these terms or our failure to use reasonable care and skill.

We are not responsible for losses that were not reasonably foreseeable when the contract was formed.

We do not exclude or limit liability where doing so would be unlawful, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or your statutory consumer rights.

Nothing in these terms is intended to restrict rights provided to consumers by law.

We process personal information in accordance with our Privacy Policy.

16. Changes to these terms

We may update these Terms & Conditions from time to time, for example where our products, services or legal obligations change.

The terms that apply to your purchase will generally be those in effect when your order was placed.

17. Governing law

These Terms & Conditions are governed by the laws of England and Wales.

If you are a consumer resident elsewhere in the UK, you may also benefit from mandatory protections and rights available under the laws applicable to you.

Nothing in these terms affects any rights you have under applicable consumer law.
