What We Stand For
Winter Grit is about trying.
Trying hard on the wall.
Trying hard to build stronger communities.
Trying hard to make things worth keeping.
Trying hard to do things the right way, even when it's slower or more difficult.
We'll never pretend we've got everything figured out.
We're not.
We're still learning.
We're still improving.
But we'd rather be honest about that than make promises we can't keep.
We're interested in getting better.
How it started
Winter Grit started as a group chat between a handful of climbers sharing sessions and ideas.
There wasn't a business plan. No launch strategy. Just people spending time together.
As more friends joined, the ideas grew with them.
Today we make clothing, organise events, teach repair workshops and collaborate with climbing walls because we believe brands should give something back to the communities that inspire them.
We're still small.
We're still figuring things out.

How We Try To Do Things Right
We make in small batches.
We're still a small brand, so we don't overproduce. We make in smaller runs, learn from each collection and only make more when there's genuine demand.
Our clothes will never go to landfill.
We encourage repair before replacement.
Through Seams Legit we teach people how to repair and customise the clothing they already own. Sometimes the best thing you can buy is nothing at all.
We stay honest.
We don't call ourselves a sustainable brand because we don't think it's that simple.
Making clothing has an impact.
What we can do is make better decisions, keep improving and be transparent about where we're still learning.
Behind Winter Grit

Winter Grit began as a way to bring together two things I care about: climbing and creating.
Outside the corporate day job, you'll usually find me climbing, watching climbing or convincing myself that the next slightly ridiculous idea might actually work.
The best ideas are usually the ones that bring people together, and that's what I hope Winter Grit continues to do.
Elena
I've always enjoyed making and repairing my own clothes. Creativity has always been a big part of my life, whether that's sewing, drawing, painting or finding new ways to give something a second life.
This year I’m beginning my postgraduate studies, but Winter Grit comes with me. I love the idea that a simple repair can give someone the confidence to keep wearing the clothes they already care about.
